Caractères / symptômes

Ostéochondrodysplasie; extrémités plus courtes de 25% et poids inférieur de 50%, dysplasie des métaphyses distales, long et bas jointé, grandeur de la tête et longueur du corps normaux, rétrécissement de la cage thoracique, déformation des sabots.

Faiblesse de l’appareil suspenseur des boulets, aggravation progressive des dommages des tendons et des ligaments, arthrose, locomotion anormale, boiterie, euthanasie. Les dommages sont incurables.

Modifications profondes du phénotype d’origine héréditaire. Déviations par rapport au développement conforme à l’espèce qui troublent les fonctions corporelles de manière importante .

Remarques

Autre phénotypes/génotypes:

Atavisme du squelette: apparence de teckel avec un dos long et des membres courts; persistance de l’ulna et de la fibula. Races atteintes : cheval miniature, poney shetland, poney welsh. Gène pas identifié.

Chondrodysplasia-Like Dwarfism: Déformation de l’apparence physique; nanisme avec disproportions : extrémités courtes avec grosse tête, malformations telles que dos de carpe, déviations de la colonne vertébrale, affections chroniques des sinus. Les mutations causales sont connues (Eberth J, 2013)

Nanisme chez l’âne miniature (âne miniature sicilien): phénotypes semblables à ceux observés chez le cheval miniature (site www.lovelongears.com)
